Gods Dam at CGC
In 1960, this group of youth volunteers came to visit Community of the Great Commission to clean up and help prepare the area that is now the swimming hole. They worked out the creek down to the rock and then built the structure to slide 2x12’s into place blocking off the flow of volcano creek creating a large swimming hole.
These young people hiked to the creek, swam in the water, and then walking the long hot hike back up to camp. It was dubbed “Gods Dam”, and that was as close to swearing as they ever got in the early 70’s.
