Westminster Retreat

An adult retreat center in Alamo, Contra Costa County, California for nonprofit groups of 12-50.

An ideal setting for adult groups, Westminster Retreat provides a peaceful, quiet place for meetings. Conveniently located in the East Bay just south of Walnut Creek, Westminster is surrounded by informal gardens and 100 year-old oak trees. To the east, enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. Diablo and to the west, the golden hills of Las Trampas Regional Park.

Built in 1928, Westminster Retreat was once a private home and large orchard. In 1953, the Englehart family sold the estate to the Presbytery of San Francisco. We are fortunate that this elegant home and its’ grounds can still be enjoyed today.

Please note: Westminster Retreat will be available for group rental through October 2013 only.

Lodging 
  • The Manor - Accommodates 30 persons with 8 bedrooms; beautiful redwood-paneled living room with fireplace; outside patio; large covered porch.
  • The Carriage House Lodge - Accommodates 20 persons with 7 bedrooms; meeting space with wood burning stove; additional room for breakout meeting space.
Dining 
  • The Main Dining Room - seats up to 40.
  • Small Dining Room - seats up to 20. (Both Dining Rooms are located in the Manor.)
Program space 
  • Spacious living room with fireplace in the Manor.
  • Two smaller meeting spaces in the Carriage House Lodge.
  • Beautiful Meditation Garden for outside meetings.
  • Outdoor bench seating for groups of 20 (arranged in semi-circle).
  • Back Patio and lawn area (tables with umbrellas).
  • Outdoor picnic area.
  • WI-FI available at Manor.
Recreation 
  • Step into Las Trampas Regional Park (adjacent to the retreat) and enjoy extensive hiking trails and nature study
  • Meditation Garden
  • Swimming pool (seasonal)
  • Volleyball, horseshoes, ping-pong, croquet
  • Walking labyrinth
